LawBank Members David Seserman and Jeannine Anderson Host Virtual Town Hall on COVID-19 Concerns

On March 16, 2020, LawBank members David Seserman and Jeannine Anderson hosted a virtual Town Hall meeting to discuss the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation. A state of emergency was declared in Colorado on March 15, with schools closing across the Denver area and a growing number of colleges and universities transitioning to online classes. With almost every part of the country functioning at some level of lockdown, it is clear that COVID-19 will impact legal professionals and their businesses on several different levels. LawBank was ahead of the curve in providing this type of forum to discuss the COVID-19 pandemic as it was emerging in the US.

During this Town Hall, Seserman and Anderson addressed the community’s concerns and questions. There was a widespread discussion by attendees that included topics such as business closures, employment law, and sick leave. As the majority of the attendees were small law firm lawyers, the issue of court closures was also discussed. As the homeless population is at serious risk during the COVID-19 pandemic, Joan Riordan, who serves as General Counsel for the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, noted that the needs of the homeless community will place greater strain on already limited resources, even with the extensive planning done by the coalition.

LawBank will continue to be a source of support, education, and community for local independent law firm attorneys. The video recording is available online (see below) and there’s a downloadable article from Law Week summarizing the event those who were unable to attend live.
