Damian Arguello Presents Timely Business Interruption Insurance Lecture for LawBank Lunch-and-Learn Series
Denver attorneys were treated to a timely business interruption insurance presentation from LawBank member Damian Arguello on May 18, 2020, as part of the LawBank Lunch-and-Learn series. The recorded webinar presentation centered around the importance of business interruption insurance during the COVID-19 pandemic and the related legal issues that business lawyers need to discuss with their corporate clients.
Damian Arguello is the principal of Colorado Insurance Law Center and one of the most influential insurance lawyers in the state. His award-winning career is broad, having served as a risk manager at a well-known insurance company and represented policyholder clients in personal and commercial insurance claims.
The topic of his presentation was the increase of business interruption insurance claims due to the coronavirus and the need for business owners to be aware of the legalities of filing these types of claims. Specifically, Damian noted that insurers are likely to deny business interruption insurance claims stemming from COVID-19 closures based on the fact that there is no real loss or property damage (in many cases). He also suggested that these denials could be legally challenged and provided strategies that attorneys could pursue as a means to protect their clients.
