Lawyer Career Coach Tracy Herman Discusses Self-Care of Your Legal Career in Her Presentation Hosted by LawBank

On April 24, 2020, Tracy Herman, Managing Member of Touchstone Legal Resources LLC, presented at LawBank to an audience of seasoned solo and small firm practitioners.

For more than two decades, Tracy has worked with law firms and attorneys in a variety of capacities including as a law firm marketer and, more recently, as an attorney recruiter. As the owner of Touchstone Legal Resources LLC, she is LawBank’s newest small law firm vendor. Her presentation was geared toward advanced attorneys on the topic of the self-care of managing their legal career. The program was video recorded for later use.

During her lecture, Tracy focused on how lawyers that are more advanced in their careers can support themselves through:

  • Adjusting their mindset when it comes to change by removing emotions when calculating risks and applying logic instead.
  • Doing a bit of self-work before drafting or redrafting a business plan to refocus their plan on strategy on the next stage of their career.
  • Finding their optimal offering that allows them to enjoy the work that they do through their law practice.

Tracy’s webinar was especially helpful for lawyers that are looking to step-back from a full-time law practice but are not yet ready for retirement. She inspired the audience to think broadly about how they can continue to find professional fulfilment by finding the overlap in their skills, values, and interests which might have changed over the years.

A successful career doesn’t happen overnight and either does a successful transition in practice area, practice size, or practice focus. Tracy gave the LawBank member community tangible next steps to follow to reimagine what their career and optimal offering can be in a new stage of legal career.
