Solo Practice Grant Program: LawBank Announces Collaborative Program with the University of Colorado
As part of the Solo Practice Grant Program, LawBank has partnered with the University of Colorado Law School to give graduating CU Law students the opportunity to start their own law practice in a collaborative setting at a deeply discounted price. Going into solo practice is an option that continues to grow in appeal and reward for entrepreneurial lawyers seeking opportunities outside of Big Law. This partnership will help new lawyers pursue their dreams of independent law practice. For more information about starting your own law firm straight out of law school, refer to LawBank’s informational article that discusses the key factors to consider, or read LawBank’s free guide to Starting Your Own Law Practice.
Overview of the Program
Recipients of the Solo Practice Grant have an opportunity to start their own law firms at one of the centrally located Colorado LawBank offices, which are co-working spaces exclusively designed for and populated by lawyers. The 12-month grant allows them full access to the LawBank property and amenities, including receptionist support services, private work rooms and conference rooms, and a professional setting that rivals any large law firm. Additionally, grant recipients have access to mentorship, educational and collaboration opportunities including social and networking events, and access to free and discounted CLE programs–all for a lowered monthly fee. Commitment to Community
A large part of the Solo Practice Grant Program is the grantee’s commitment to give back to the community through dedicated pro bono work designed to bridge the access-to-justice gap. The justice gap includes individuals who do not qualify for legal aid services due to their income, but who cannot afford to pay full legal fees. Because grantees of the Solo Practice Grant Program will not have to shoulder the full cost of starting their own legal practice, they are positioned to serve this growing market of potential clients. This commitment to closing the justice gap sets a standard for graduates to make contributions to at-risk populations, both building their own experience and creating a stronger, more just Colorado.
