Mark Candler and Dave Owens of Maia Wealth will present with Brennan Hannon of CollegeInvest to share information about a new tax incentive for college savings that small law firms can benefit from.
Governor Hickenlooper’s “Working Family College Savings Act” went into effect this year and is designed to incentivize businesses to contribute to their (or their employees’) 529 college savings accounts.
This program is a must-attend for:
- Working parents
- Young attorneys looking to grow their families
- Attorneys with employees
With this new law, businesses receive a 20% tax credit on contributions made directly into their employees’ College Invest 529 accounts, up to a $500 tax credit, per employee, per year. While there is no limit to what an employer can contribute, the tax credit will max out with a $2,500 contribution to themselves, or per employee, per year.
Additional Perks for Attending:
- Lunch: $10.00 restaurant gift certificate to all attendees
- Drawing : A live drawing for a free college plan
- Drawing : A live drawing for a free retirement plan
- Drawing: A guided fly-fishing trip at the local private lake, Lake Carol Anne, with 100% of equipment provided.
- The Grand Prize Drawing: A guided fly-fishing float trip down the Colorado River (near Kremmling and State Bridge) for two people. Transportation, equipment, and lunch provided.
