Justice Bernstein: Taking Advantage of Life Challenges to Be a More Effective Legal Practitioner

Last week, LawBank was pleased to host Justice Richard Bernstein, who spoke on “Taking Advantage of Life Challenges to Be a More Effective Legal Practitioner.” Justice Bernstein is the first blind justice elected to the Michigan Supreme Court. Blind since birth, Justice Bernstein is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Michigan and Northwestern University of Law. Before being elected to Michigan’s highest court, Justice Bernstein was a tireless advocate for the disabled, winning landmark cases that impacted disability law nationally. Despite his rigorous judicial schedule, Justice Bernstein has completed 18 marathons, including eight New York City marathons, the full Ironman triathlon in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and the Israman triathlon’s half Ironman in Eilat, Israel. LawBank was very fortunate to have Justice Bernstein at our Colorado Boulevard location speaking to our members on the valuable lessons he’s learned throughout his career – part of the ongoing learning series available to all LawBank members!
